Beautiful experience, Aish. Thanks for sharing! You just teleported me to Japan.

Fascinating Fine Frigid Fluff! (Expectations Vs. Reality)
It is a regular snowy day here. Suddenly, everything is still or slowed, like things moving in slow-motion… The ethereal scene is so enticing though. “Snowflakes” are mysterious and so familiar at the same time. The holiday season never feels complete without the white fluffy beauty; it instantly lights up the spirit and fills the void. It is more fascinating to know that no two snowflakes are the same, ever! Mystically designed— handmade from heaven.
The snowfall looks beautiful and divine when you look from the window, I felt the same way until the day I went out on a snowy day. It’s interesting when big/ chunky flakes slip down and settle on your face and you feel like you are literally standing in heaven. The next minute, a bit of snow gets into your eye and the serene scene is washed away in a second, and the next thing you wish is to get inside your cozy home. The scene worsens if you are going out with your kids.
Expectation 1:
Angelic toddlers/kids run across the snow-filled area laughing, chuckling and jumping. Plump cheeks with a reddish glow and white-smiles adorn their faces. They lie-down on the snow and make snow angels. What a gorgeous sight!
Reality 1:
Irritated by the thermal-wear that we force them to put on, carrying the weight of the unique snow-warrior costume, applying skin creams and lip-balms and to top all that off , wearing a pair of heavy boots, they drag their tiny legs and whine as they walk out. They cannot even walk without wiggling, leave alone running! Big snowflakes fall across their faces, worsening their already dry and itchy red skin. Cheeks are so red that they are actually about to bleed and the poor kids have to endure the pain when the chilly air blows across. Not to mention their eyes and noses; they pour out like water tanks. Oh! Believe me, It’s not-so-flattery moment.
Expectation 2:
Happy kids throwing snow balls on each other, making snowman and decorating it and parents taking pictures.
Reality 2:
Kids fighting and throwing tantrums as they are not-so-comfortable outside. Snow flying everywhere creating chaos, arguments spice-up on who will put the snowman’s nose and who will put the hat. Hands freezing and the winds causing frost-bites, kids falling down due to the slippery floor and parents pleading to take the children inside the house as they no longer can handle the situation while freezing. A tricky/ slimy situation, I say!
Expectation 3:
As the kids get into the car, within minutes the car slides through the snowy road. Kids enjoy the holiday-lighting outside and they sweetly sing songs all the way!
Reality 3:
After a stressful get-ready-with-kids session, you get them out and when you are about to lock the door, one of the kids says, “I want to use the bathroom!”. Thanks to all the tugging and pulling while dressing-up. By the time you undress them, take them to the bathroom, dress them up again...you feel like you are baking in a hot oven! Now, you don’t want to remove your out-wear and then wear them again; you want to save time you see… Finally, you gather the kids and walk out with a relief, get them in the car, struggle with the seat belts and you start the car. Now, your little one asks for water, you realize that you have left it in the house. You get the bottle and start the car, and as you drive you hear the kids argue/ fight. And trust me, it does not feel anything close to a song!
Expectations are quite often not the same as the reality. But, the experiences remain valuable! I loved a quote which I read yesterday:
“ I always feel happy. You know why? Because I don’t expect anything from anyone. Expectations always hurt… Life is short… So love your life… Be happy… And keep smiling… Just live for yourself and…
Before you speak...Listen.
Before you write... Think.
Before you spend...Earn.
Before you pray... Forgive.
Before you hurt... Feel.
Before you hate... Love.
Before you quit...Try.
Before you die... Live.” -- William Shakespeare

Thank you Hari! π
Hahaha, so true. Thing do not always go the way we think they are going to. That's what makes life fun!
This is a great post about expectations and reality. It's so easy to get lost in expectations but the sad true is that it's not reality. Good job.
This is what I love about living in Florida. I don't miss the snow from when I lived up north...While it is pretty and nice to visit, I was never a fan of living in it lol
True, Masshole Mommy! Life is fun when unknown factor exists. Thanks for your kind words.π
Thank you Criss_riyu! Glad you liked it! π
Exactly, Jessi! Thanks for taking time to read and comment. πππ
Ahh snow. We don't get much of it in Texas. But we also lived in Wyoming and Oklahoma and would get some. The kids loved it! I did not.
It is amazing how we go into things with a certain outlook and it doesnt always end up that way lol.
The kids in my area have been disappointed this year. We've had pretty much no snow at all.
I like the look of your post. Not missing the snow here in Florida.
I moved to SC from Chicago about 3 years back to get away from the harsh winter snow days. My last winter there I was stuck in my apartment for 3 days because of a blizzard that left 6 foot snow drifts barricading our entry door. I loved it as a kid and teen, just can't stand it for more than a couple days at a time now. Too use to southern weather I guess. Richard B
You just never know what to expect from kids. Then again, you always know what to expect. They're a mystery and yet you can predict it. Until they decide to surprise you with exactly what you hoped for. :)
Kids can say do and want funny things. I live in NY and there has been no snow here this year. I think we are becoming Florida :)
I agree, it does not feel like the Holidays without the fluffy stuff. We did not have a white Christmas two years ago, it was very bizarre for Montreal!
I have experienced winter when I was in New York City. It was really memorable. I had to buy another jacket because my jacket was not sufficient. I would love to come back again.
I learned not to expect anything from anyone from previous experiences. Expectations lead to disappointments and that's really not something that I'm game for.
Here in Los Angeles it never snowed , so i never had any experience of touching the snow lol
super cute!
This describes my life in Alberta, Canada. The snow part I mean. Almost half of the year we are covered in snow, however, we have gotten used to it, we expect it. :)
This is a great post and here in London UK we hardly had any snow. xx
oo, this makes me feel glad to be indoors. There's nothing g like a warm fire and a cup of tea.
Thank you all for your lovely encouraging words!πππ
I love the expectations vs reality comparison! Very entertaining and oh so true!

It's so much tougher when you expect from people. I would rather not and just save myself the disappointment. I think it's one of the lessons that I learned the hard way while going through life.
We don't ever have snow here in the valley so its hard for me to imagine, lol. I can only assume it would go this way though!
I have always loved the snow. But in Southern California we don't get much. Glad you can cherish the precious moments!
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I am glad you liked it! πππ
Ha ha !! Love it!! It's all so true!!
